Did you know that...

People in Ghana get their names because of the day at which they were born. For example, a female child born on Sunday like me would be called Akosua(more of 'Akusija' when pronuncing) or a male child born on Saturday is Kwame. The twins of opposite sex born on thursday will be called Yaw for him and Yaa for her. There are also a lot of other names, but these seem to be the most common.
Amazing, isn't it!

It's a pity the British make Ghanian People have a Christian name to be used at schools. For instance, Kwame Oti Manuh John.
Kwame - used by family,
Oti - for everyone,
Manuh - surname,
John - Christian name.
While in fact, 'Oti Manuh' is a surname and the real name is Kwame.

More of Ghana culture and traditions soon.;-)

I love You, Kwame. Yours Akosua
